We’ve put together something extra special as we welcome the Cathedral’s fun-filled fall season. Join us from 10 – 11 a.m. in the Great Hall for migas and lively acoustic music provided by talented brothers Francisco “Frank” Guevara (one of our very own Sextons!) and Manu Guevara. Adults $8, Children $5, family maximum $25.

Anglican & Episcopalian - Canon Stein will lead a reading course he’s calling “Anglican and Episcopalian” Wednesday nights, 6:30 – 8 p.m., beginning September 8. Each week there’ll be a presentation on the week’s topic and a reading discussion for those interested in knowing more about who we are as a community and why things work the way they do in church. The cost for books is $65.00. The lead books are Henry Chadwick’s Not Angels but Anglican and Michael Ramsey’s The Anglican Spirit.

Friday, September 10, Episcopal Night at the Ballpark & Cathedral Pre-game Cookout
- Tickets are going fast for this Friday night event! We’ll fire up the grills in time to start serving the hot dog meal with fixings and drinks, including beer, at 5 p.m. in the Bishop’s Courtyard. Ticket pick up and sales of any remaining tickets will be at a table in the Great Hall during the Labor Day Fiesta Brunch on September 5 and at the pre-game cookout. Show your Cathedral spirit by wearing your favorite Cathedral t-shirt and/or baseball cap. Event price: $12. Safeguarding God’s Children (SGC) and Safeguarding God’s People (SGP) are classes that educate us on how to protect our community from sexual misconduct. Although the courses are required for participation in particular ministries, anyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Brigid’s Hope at The Beacon - We need women who are interested in mentoring and providing community support to our women of Brigid’s Hope, a program that provides support and assistance for homeless women in transition from Texas prisons and jails. In 7 years, thanks primarily to volunteer support, not one graduate of Brigid’s Hope has returned to prison. Houston Chamber Choir celebrates the opening of its 15th Anniversary Season, A Bridge Across Time, by returning to the glorious Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart with a choral program that celebrates such expressive masterpieces as Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere and Thomas Tallis’s Spem in alium,
a 40-part motet. Moving Forward Conference - This free conference at Christ Church Cathedral on October 1-2 will focus on exploring a path to full LGBT inclusion in the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. The conference will kick off with a Festival Eucharist featuring a sermon by Dr. Bonnie Anderson, the President of the House of Deputies. Workshops and discussion will follow on Saturday.
